PMS and iron?
I've had a couple days this week where I've been incredibly cranky for no reason that I could figure out. Sure, I've been stressing about weight loss, money, auditions, etc. but stress doesn't usually effect my mood so much. I've been eating more than enough calories as I said before, and focusing on getting protein as much as possible to help my body recover from these workouts. I don't usually experience PMS this way, but I should be starting my period soon, so I've decided to blame my mood swings on that.
I also got an email from my mom who I asked about my crankiness, and she mentioned that my grandma has an iron deficiency, so perhaps it's hereditary and I should focus on eating more red meat, leafy greens, and mollusks (too bad they're too expensive here). This makes a lot of sense to me because although I've been eating well, I haven't been eating many greens and I've been craving hamburgers.
Last night, the crankiness took over and I ate my feelings. Got take out with the fiance: pizza, calamari, and wine. Not the best choice, but it did make me feel better and I had a great night. Not gonna beat myself up over it, just gonna focus on a better intake for the rest of the week.
FUEL:
fruit, toast w/ pb, and some cheddar cheese

(ignore the mess in the background hahaha)
hard boiled egg, veggies and guac, prunes, some parmesan popcornveggies, tofu, beans, and feta
strawberries and some chocolate

Yum, calamari.... now, I'm hungry. Lolz.
Love your positive attitude!
I have low-iron anemia and I take OTC Fe pills to increase my iron, maybe that would work for you too. <3
i take prenatal vitamins. :) no prenatal-y things going on but they have iron & what not in them.
i have an iron deficiency. it affects me mainly around my period time.. or when i was pregnant. I am supposed to take an iron supplement. I dont take it usuall.. unless i start feeling bad.. then i'll take it. but they make me constipated (tmi sry) so i dont like taking it. but it will definitely help you.
Lots of women have iron deficiencies that are especially bad around their period. I hope you feel better soon! <3
Gota eat cha meat!
